Comments Thread For: Klitschko Wasn't Sitting on Couch, Drinking Beer' During Layoff

NEW YORK This 17-month break between boxing matches will amount to the longest layoff of Wladimir Klitschko's 20-year pro boxing career. Inactivity can become even more troublesome for older boxers, but the 40-year-old former heavyweight champion doesn't think this lengthy layoff will impact his performance against Anthony Joshua. Klitschko's shot at Joshua, scheduled for April 29 at Wembley Stadium in London, will mark the Ukrainian's first fight since he lost three heavyweight titles to England's Tyson Fury in a November 2015 bout in Dusseldorf, Germany.

I'd love to see Wlad hit the drink. It'd be like when Superman got drunk in no. III - quits shaving, hits bars and causes trouble, even dissing young kids in the street. He'll be a better fighter for it.

He'll outsmart Joshua with revenge on any Englishman that reminds him of Fury. He'll present enough early rounds hurt on Joshua to make him cautious to outjab him the rest of the way. But Klitch will be outworked by the long American due to contentment afterwards.

I believe Vlad has been spending his time focusing, planning and training like a warrior.

He is an intelligent and motivated guy, and won't have excuses if he loses this time.
