If GGG is solely interested in unifying the 160 division but Canelo has no 160 belt, why is he so interested in Canelo? Simple answer....it's always about the money.
He owns the WBO Jr. MW belt which makes him a mandatory MW contender for that belt if he chooses. That's why he chose Liam Smith. Saunders owns that belt and is an easy out. As long as he can hold it. If everything stays on course he looks good against Chavez Jr. and then takes Saunders belt. For a fight with GGG for ALL the belts.

True but that's a lot of "if's" and GGG would be and will be chasing Canelo for the dinero, belt or no belt.

It didn't work for Gamboa, Rigo, and others. Chavez had to be in a circus match with Canelo to make good money. Bradley, Marquez, Rios, Crawford, Vargas, etc. are all millionaires without leaving Arum. Not everyone is destined to be DLH, TBE, etc.

True, everyone is not destined to be DLH, TBE, etc but Garcia knows his potential worth. There's incredible value in being an highly skilled, undefeated Mexican American boxer. Scared money don't make money.
