How many brutal wars before a fighter should think about retiring?

Both miura and vargas looked diminished tonight, and will probably never be the same...yet people are already wanting to line up their next war. Do we expect too much from these guys? Sometimes i don't think people understand that the body can't continuously take that type of punishment, especially over the age of 30. Does anyone want to see these guys permanently damaged? If you don't care about that, then what about seeing lesser versions of them in lackluster fights? Castillo and corrales come to mind.

ofcourse these type of brutal fights take alot out of a fighter
but tonite it was like he believed his own legend
like he embraced the war role to much
he seemed to start slow maybe not respecting the younger guy allowing him waiten to turn it on late
but before you know it the dude was just too much.
