    Thoughts and opinions?
5-6 times a year fighting top opposition. their careers would be super short.

One thing you would find is less people draining themselves to death to make weight divisions.

It is absolutely ridiculous to expect people to fight that many times a year.

I think two or three times a year is just fine. They actually do have a life outside of just fighting, you know.

They'd have lower quality fights and shorter careers.

i think 5 or 6 is excessive but fighters should be aiming between 2 - 4. 4 if the fights turn out to be easy, 2 if the 1st fight is a war or something like that.

Face it, the business of boxing and tv is way different today than when fighters where fighting each week. Fans were okay relying on newspapers and radio back then, but now there's something called TV slots and fighters want that TV money and fans want to see fighters on tv, if a network doesn't want to buy the fight, the fight doesn't happen, and no network is going to buy the common boxers 6 fights unless we're talking about Pacquiao, Canelo or Cotto. Then again, who's going to care about Canelo vs some guy with a 22-25 record?

                Exactly......

Well in MMA you had fighters fighting 4 times a year or more in Pride, Cro Cop fought like 8 times in 2004. For that to happen you need an organization that would be able to organize top fights that people would care about regularly and the fighters would have to be paid enough to make it worthy for them but not too much so they stay hungry and fight regularly. Also, you have to keep in mind that in Pride everyone was allowed to use steroids which helps decrease the negative effects of injuries and overtraining.

I don't think this would necessarily bring the quality fights though. A lot of those fights would look like sparring sessions because the stakes wouldn't be as high as they are now. You'd just have more defensive fighters at the top who would be able to fight more often because they take less damage. Maybe this could be solved if you'd decrease the number of rounds but then that's basically like amateur boxing. And everyone would take a lot of tune up fights than no one cares about.

It would also keep the publicity away from many fighters since the same stars would get the coverage all the time. For example imagine Canelo or GGG fighting 6 times a year, they would be in the boxing news constantly while other guys wouldn't get much coverage.

Fighters don't get injured every single fight. And there would be less injuries if you had guys stepping into the ring more often. They wouldn't have the ring rust that causes these injuries. Hey, if anybody's that brittle, I'm sure they could get a 2-3 fight a year schedule, but a lot of guys could do it no problem.
