    Comments Thread For: Could 2017 Be One Of Boxing's Best Years in Recent Memory?

    By Andreas Hale - Despite fight fans being denied the biggest fight that could be made between Gennady Golovkin and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, 2016 turned out to be a pretty damn good year for the sport. Could a year that saw everything from the savage brutality of Francisco Vargas vs. Orlando Salido, the application of the sweet science between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev, young lions throwing hands in Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter and, of course, the marvelous showdown between Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz get even better?...

        North America is the problen, its like theyve had their balls cut off.

        Wilder -> bumslayer
        Stevenson -> Chickenson
        Canelo -> Cherrypicking mediocre fighter

        Best fight happen because of Europeans and Asians.

        Great fights.
        Klitschko vs Joshua
        Golovkin vs Jacobs (Golovkin wanted this more)

        Exhibition fight
        Canelo vs Jr

        ...etc...

            I agree 1000%. I think it's going to be an AWESOME fight!!!

            "Fans will be happy to know the cost for Miguel Cotto vs James Kirkland on February 25th will be $15 to $20 USD cheaper"

            I wasn't going to buy the fight at 1st but I probably will now. $40-50 bucks isn't too bad??I hate it's on PPV?? I'm gonna wait until just before the fight to buy. Make sure Kirkland doesn't screw it up and fire Ann or do something dumb. He fires Ann I'm not buying it.

              Why does everyone blame Stevenson??? The Kovalov fight was up for a purse bid and his promoter REFUSED to even show up!!!

              And calling CanYellow a cherrypicker when GGG's ENTIRE career has been against BUMS!!! Jacobs is the 1st one as a pro. And that didn't almost happen because how FKN CHEAP K2 is! The fight alsmot didn't happen over like $500K??? That's some BS! GGG could of had Saunders belt by now if wasn't soo damn cheap.

              Saunders wanted $4 million (Yes he ain't worth even half that)
              K2 max offer was $1.5 same as Lemuix.

              Meet in the middle then. Say $2.75-$3mill which Saunder I bet would of taken. Nope!! GGG's DREAM of owning ALL the belts fight doesn't happen over $1-1.5 million. You know who doesn't have that problem??? REAL promotors!!!

                  2017 should be a good yr for boxing. . Not sure if cotto vs Kirkland will be a dud as the writer suggests. It's definitely not ppv worthy but style wise it should be a good fight.

                    No mention of the promotion currently propping up the sport. Views Goldenboy, top rank, K-2 and other ****house promotions that have been declining the sport for years.
