Looks like a mismatch to me...

So much for Golden Boy agreeing to make these ESPN fights competitive.
Tapia shouldn't even be allowed to fight, his own trainer - Freddy Roach said he should stop. The guy was showing signs of brain damage after Kirkland, then GB fed him to Lemieux in a BS fight, now they're grinding his bones for Quigely...
I'll pass watching this.Comment

Because he's only had 12 pro fights. Tapia is a name fighter to add to his resume and get him exposure. People didn't have a problem with lemiuex a former world champ and top 10 ranked fighter facing Tapia last year. This a young prospect still a few years away before fighting for a title facing a vet who is no longer in his prime but can still crack. Quigley has the goods but needs more experience and there are far worse opponents other young prospects are facing in their 13th pro fights then Tapia who has been in against world class fighters. You got young prospects deeper into their career and even world Champs facing no named bums no one heard of with double digit loses. Glen has only 3 losses all to top fighters (world Champs and world champ contenders). And like I said this will be the biggest puncher Quigley as ever faced no problem with this fight.Comment

Idiot he's a young unranked prospect with only a dozen pro fights people have a problem with pbc putting on mismatches with fighters with double and triple the pro fights against worse fighters. Deontay Wilder the fight before his title shot had over 30 pro fights was a top ranked fighter and fought Jason Gavern 25-16-4 who a year earlier was in the middle of a 7 fight losing streak. Those are the fights to cry about not this.Comment

Tapia looks finished. It's at the point when you should probably be more worried about his health than whether he can be competitive.
It's probably best for Tapia that this fight is just a quick KO and not a long fight.
I get that GBP wants to showcase their talent, and with this being on ESPN2 it should raise Quigley's profile a bit, but I didn't like Lemieux fighting Tapia and I don't like this fight either.
There was talk of whether Teddy Atlas would announce these fight cards....if this is the kind of fight that these ESPN2 shows will largely consist of, then they probably don't want Atlas calling them....because he will criticize mismatches far more than some other announcers will.Comment
