Khan was doing well under Frank Warren, he had the Olympic hype surrounding him, so he didn't really need Matchroom as any promoter could have taken him to that level, when he left Warren I had more respect for him for going to America, the easiest option would be to do with normal British fighter do, which would be build up their resume to like 35-0 whilst getting the media and sky hype but with a thin resume. This practice was done by 95% of British boxers, Khan going to America earn my respect because the easiest thing he could have done is stay at Bolton and bring people over here.

Khan want brook post Spence.
He thinks Brook will lose.
If Brook beat Spence there would a lot of salty mofos on NSB.
And Khans negotiations would take a very different slant.Comment

Oh definitely. He saw that Calzaghe had 'cracked' America late and didn't want to do the same either. Plus, the change would give him a chance of a fresh start under a new trainer at a new place.Khan was doing well under Frank Warren, he had the Olympic hype surrounding him, so he didn't really need Matchroom as any promoter could have taken him to that level, when he left Warren I had more respect for him for going to America, the easiest option would be to do with normal British fighter do, which would be build up their resume to like 35-0 whilst getting the media and sky hype but with a thin resume. Khan and Frank had a good thing going but it's not comparable to the shows that Matchroom put on or what the Klitschko's were doing in Germany. Eddie Hearn has a background in marketing, plus he's got his dad advising him too on top of that he has money so he's got a good foundation. We have to look at the landscape of UK Boxing at that time. We had Hatton who had only started fighting in the States in 2006, Calzaghe was still a UK-focused fighter until like 2008, Haye hadn't made it big then. Froch/Brook weren't really known. Khan was the only boxer the country could rally behind because he was only 17 years old fighting Mario Kindelan legendary opponent btw and putting on a great fight. He was the new star, as you said it was an easy sell. The media got behind him and he loved it too. He had the look, the style, fought regularly too.
I do think he has really not done himself any favours in the last 4 years though. The Canelo fight was a pure cashgrab (he made serious $ to be fair). He hasn't been active enough and hasn't fought the right opponents.Comment
