Is it possible that when all is said and done that andre wards career will be viewed in a similar way to calzaghes in that he will be used as a comparison for a new generation of smw or light heavies....but otherwise not be name dropped or recognised as one of the atgs in terms of name recognition ala oscar tyson bhop hearns etc....also....will his final 0 be considered as good as sven ottkes....the other great smw hometown fighter?.
Wards final footnote...

I remember when ottke knocked out anthony mundine....who then went on to drop 2 weight divisions and stop atg shane mosely. Mundine also beat daniel geale who beat felix sturm who arguably beat ODLH...so in a way ottke was ahead of his time given such a signature win. I think at this point they are somewhere on par if you factor in that ottke got an occasional gift as well.Comment

I dunno, Ward wasn't really expected to take that fight. To move up against the beast, not get ktfo'd and win some rounds is a more than fitting end after all he achieved at SMW.Comment

You are right....not getting knocked out and winning some rounds is representative of his achievments at smw....he was competitive.....but not spectacular...yes he won the super six...under his own rules against other competitive fair to middling opponents. Old glencoffee...undersized Abraham....tough but limited froch...etcComment
