To make things easier, we go by official results here, meaning that yes, Ward defeated Kovalev in this thread, no matter if you like it or not. For example...

    Ward, Crawford, Lomachenko, Gonzalez, Golovkin.

People may ask why I included Golovkin, as his resume is horrible, but we can't ignore his dominance at middleweight. If he defeats Jacobs, it's simply a fact that he belongs among the top 5.

So, can we all agree on those 5 being in the top 5, or do you have certain disagreements? I could imagine that some would include Canelo, but it's better for the sport if we all just forget about that fat weight-draining ginger.
If wer'e simply going off of official results, thus wins and losses, how can you NOT have Canelo?

GGG, Canelo, Ward (for the sake of this exercise), Gonzalez and Kovalev. No idea how you think a consensus should include Loma and TC above Kovalev and Canelo.

Actually thats a good point. He could arguably be in there instead of Ward.

Official decisions do not necessarily correlate to a fighters skill

Many people saw Kovalev beating Ward, so it's fair enough for people to rank him higher P4P

Limiting yourself to official decisions 'to make it simple' is a pointless exercise. P4P is simply a personal measure of skill based on selective criteria. Official decisions is one that most people will not lean heavily on..

Crawford and GGG are the two absolute top 5 everyone should have.

Then you have Ward that i agree to be top 5. I exclude Kovalev since he proved last fight that he's only good in the early rounds.

I would add Lomachenko to that top 5. Spence could also be in that top 5, but since his resume is so weak, it's hard to put him there yet.

For that last spot, you have Gonzalez, Rigondeau, Pacquiao, maybe Kovalev, possibly Beterbiev, Frampton, Canelo, etc.

            Crawford and Lomachenko?

And then you question GGG and Kovalevs resume but have fighters like Loma and Crawford? Only trolling on NSB lately, getting sick of it.

Nop, i totally agree on GGG been a top 5 consensus pick. I think GGG, even if he did not fought best competition, always showed dominance in his performances.

On the other hand, Kovalev was far from dominant against Ward. Not only Ward, but even Chilemba, where in the later rounds he seemed exhausted and slow. One top 5 consensus pick to me should not fade like that going past round 6. And who has Kovalev beat that was really worthy? A 50 year old Hopkin? Jean Pascal?

As for Crawford, like GGG, he has always shown dominance in all his fights. There is no fight where Crawford not only won it clearly, but did not hurt or finish his opponents. He's a unified champ in two weight class already, something not many can claim.

Lomachenko lost to Salido, but it was his second pro fight, for the title, he wasn't prepared for that vicious cheater, who kept it dirty and came overweight. Other than that, he showcased dominance and skills in every fight.

You are never going to get an agreement on what 5 boxers are the top 5 pound for pound. Pound for pound ratings are strictly opinion based usually with no way to be proven right or wrong. There are is way too much variety of opinions to ever get us all to agree. Why is an agreement on who are the 5 best pound for pound even needed or important? I don't think an agreement on the 5 best PFP is the least bit needed or important. Just let everybody have their own personal list and let it go at that.
