The problem with so many titles is that the storyline is too hard to follow for fans. Take the light heavyweight division for example.
The three big dogs are Kovalev, Ward and Stevenson. If there were one title, then Stevenson would have to face the other two to have a claim to being any kind of champion. Now, let's say that Ward won the rematch, Stevenson stepped up and Ward beat him.
And now we get to what's good. As the only champion, Ward would have his pick of the real contenders out there and the story could continue. The way it is now, though, people are easily confused. Who's the champion? Ward. Well, and Stevenson has a title. One champion means no confusion and a storyline the fans(even casuals) can follow. The alphabet circus needs to go...
