Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo Beating Chavez Jr. Will Not Satisfy The Critics

If Saul "Canelo" Alvarez defeats his countryman Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on May 6th, Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya does not expect the critics to be satisfied. Canelo, who holds the WBO junior middleweight title, will move up to a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds to face Chavez Jr. on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Hopefully the Chavez that showed up to the Martinez fight will appear in this fight. That's the only way this fight will be entertaining and the ONLY way Chavez can actually pull off the upset, but man Chavez looks like he's just coming to his fights to collect paychecks now. Wanna see him back in the ring with his full confidence and determination.

And here come the lil G nut huggers. Jacobs is the first note worthy fight of his career. It took him 34 years to finally grow some balls and fight a non cab driver. Nevermind him moving up in weight and taking a challenge.

Canelo's better off losing.A 100 million dollar trilogy with JR's a lot safer than GGG.That's only kind of a joke.If he lost he'd still get at least 55% with JR in a rematch

Of course not, who the **** is Chavez Jr? Being the son of a legend doesn't nullify that he's just a good little C level name to have on your resume, nothing else. People ragged on GGG and Ward for wanting Chavez Jr and
I was one of those people, no difference here for Canelo. I support both Ward and Canelo but they'd get ****ted on by me if they fought Chavez Jr.

With that said, I tell people that if they're just into action and disregard rankings and resumes, that they may want to tune in because this fight will probably have some good back and forths, but I let them know JCC Jr is not a good fighter and this does not, in any way, advance Canelo in his path of being a great fighter. Just his size alone will bring some interest but that's it, similar to Pacquiao vs Margarito, but ultimately neither opponent are actually worth being on PPV per se.
