How come Steve Smoger no longer gets big fights?

hes retired and was one of the best ref ever. He let fighters FIGHT and gave them the chance to come back amazing huh un heard of these days, these days 1 drastic shot can end a fight.

GOAT ref, IMO. Some say he's too hands-off but the brilliant thing you'll see in Smoger fights is that guys work their way out of clinches on their own because they know he isn't going to pamper them. Froch/Ward is a perfect example. They got gritty and were constantly fighting, be in at range or in the clinch. The fighters respected Smoger and knew what to expect from him.

They don't make em like Steve. I donate $20K of my income every year to genetic research in the hopes that they will soon be able to clone Steve Smoger. I hope to see that in my lifetime.

I think he is a terrific referee and the more fights he referees the better I like it.
