I don't know why that guy got fired. My guess-his salary was high and he got let go like other highly paid former ESPN employees that have been downsized recently.

In this case GBP is a big player in the Latino/Hispanic community/market. Seeing as most of the shows are on ESPN deportes, it appears that GBP, being a Hispanic owned company that deals primarily with Meixcan/hipanic fighters, is why they went with him.

Similar to why PBC is on Bounce-its a network aimed toward African Americans
espn have been firing alot of ppl the last 2-3 years if anyone hasnt noticed. fox have picked up quite a few employees from espn.

That's not what Dan Rafael reported:

The series, sponsored by Tecate, will air on ESPN2 and will be simulcast in Spanish on ESPN Deportes as well as streamed on ESPN3. A few .... will not be available on ESPN2, however, because of scheduling conflicts.

exactly. I guess bigdunny1 thinks they let Skip,Ditka and Keyshawn go and scaled down Berman's stuff because PBC isn't drawing ratings, not because cable subscriptions have dropped.

Except...they decided to move (not reduce) the shows and gave a pretty solid reason why.

PBC has been on air for less than two years. They moved their 2016 ESPN cards that were initially slated to begin mid-year because they noticed trends in the market that led them to believe their ratings would suffer if they continued to blindly do shows once a month.

Whether you choose to believe it or not is your business. But 12 shows this year fulfills their contractual duties and that's that.

"We put out a schedule for 2017 and our network partners are committed, those deals are already in place, we have a slate of boxers so there will be someone fighting on those cards because we already have those dates and we already have our partnership agreements in place with the networks. So the only thing I can tell you is to sit around, wait and see. All the things are in place that are necessary for us to have shows on television."

i think alot of pbc shows reducing is just in response to the lawsuits and legal fees behind it and having to be patient with how things plan on. haymon gave up his exclusive rights when tr and their lawsuit was settled, so it allowed gbp to move what they had on fs1 before heading to ring tv and estrella to espn. i dont expect to be wowed by the matchmaking but it means more boxing heading into the spring, pbc will headline the main espn channel and gbp will headline the espn2 and deportes cards.

Well, their original plan was to "blindly do shows once a month"...if the market couldn't support that many shows that often then it sounds like a design flaw.

They can't just outright replace pbc they have a contract pbc already paid for the air time. And why would golden boy give espn the type of money pbc foolishly wasted to get their fights on espn? Golden boy made a deal for FNF type fights for their prospects on ESPN2. Their better fighters fight on HBO or PPV. Espn if they were getting the monthly boxing content for their channels like pbc promised them they wouldn't be looking for a rival promoter to give it to them.

Not a question of the market supporting that many shows, but when to air that many shows. They made mistakes and adjusted. But uhh, to pretend the shows have been cut (when it was moved) is silly talk.
