Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux's Trainer Wants Lomachenko Fight at Catch-Weight

Pedro Diaz and his Mundo Boxing team are hard at work at their Miami base preparing Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) for his bout with Moises Flores (25-0, 17 KOs) on February 25 for the WBA Super Bantamweight world title. The clash in Texas between two unbeaten fighters will be the Cuban's first since he stopped James Jazza' ****ens in two rounds last July in Cardiff, Wales. Daz is of the belief that Flores could prove to be the toughest challenge yet for the 36-year-old.

To me this is by far the biggest fight there could be made, even better than Canelo-GGG or Crawford-Mayweather Jr., (NOT Crawford-Pacquiao, I am pretty sure that Crawford would destroy Manny at this point of his career), because these are two completely different boxers in style, yet they both are high-quality P4P boxers, the only flaws they have, and incidentally that's why this thread incredibly has almost no comments, are:

          1) None of them is an American
          2) They are very small guys. Sadly, in boxing or at least to the casual fans, it seems that the "big fights" can only happen with boxers that are junior welterweight or heavier.

Rigondeaux has never fought a true quality fighter who can actually harm him and slow him down both in leg speed and reflexes. Somebody who can actually damage his face, the way Rigondeaux himself did to Donaire. That guy is definitely Lomachenko. I can actually imagine Lomachenko slowly wearing down Rigondeaux, slowing him down, bruising and maybe cutting his face, until the fight gets stopped by a KO. Against any other boxer, that would simply sound impossible, but not against Lomachenko.

THIS FIGHT SHOULD BE MADE ASAP!!!

Just the pedigree in the ring would make my mouth water. Doubt it ever happens though.

Sorry Rigo, that ship sailed! I do agree that what Arum did to Rgo, after he dominated Donaire, was very disrespectful! HBO was just as disrespectful! That being said, there is an abundance of talent @ 126! FIGHT! Pick one: Gary Russell Jr., Carl Frampton, Abner Mares, LSC, Lee Selby, Oscar Valdez, Jesus Cuellar! You should be eatin' real good right now!

I agree, think after unifying with Corrales,Lomachenko will fight Vargas if Oscar would make it which i doubt, and then move up too 135,don't think he is gonna move down again..

And he shouldn't have to! Loma is the "A-side" fighter now! Coming off the loss to Salido, he wasn't. If Rigo wants Loma, he moves up to 130! At this point, I would rather see Loma vs. Salido II, or Loma vs. Mikey Garcia, before I would want to see Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux!
