What happens to canelo's career if he loses to Chavez Jr ?

It depends on how the fight goes, tbh.
If it turns out that the fight is a dogged scrap, with Chavez Jr's extra 20lbs basically wearing out Alvarez down the stretch, Alvarez's fanbase still loves him, his shows will keep to TX/NV/CA, and he'd still be able to turn over money (Alvarez likely goes back to 154, and stays there for as long as he can physically make the wait, before going to 160lbs and working around fighters with sheer physical size over him).
If he gets the **** beat out of him, leading to a stoppage before the end of the fight, Alvarez's rep gets ruined and he likely takes an extended break.Comment

GGG loses a career payday and he fights Chavez in a rematch that's what happens. The last thing any GGG fanboy should be rooting for is Canelo to lose because that takes a GGG fight off the table and he has no other fights that can take him to that next level and damn sure no fights that get him even 1/3 the money Canelo offered him. His only road to becoming a PPV star ends with Canelo. Canelo can lose and still get fights make money. History proves that cash cow's can take not just a loss but multiple losses and remain big draws. See Ronda Rousey, Pacman got laid out to sleep by Marquez still got big fights. Cotto lost multiple times and is still making money getting fights. Canelo could lose go directly into a rematch or take a tune up then go into a rematch or go back down in weight. All while GGG stays drawing 100K ppvs or fighting strictly on regular HBO for a fraction of the money with no fights out there that take him to that next level.Comment

NOTHING! "Chavez Was Too Big" and he moves back down, work his way back up properly and get a rematch that could be even bigger depending on how the first fight plays out!
Need to get fighters out of being so afraid of losing to the point in which they will not take chances like a Tank Davis just did this weekendComment

THIS ^^^ Oscar, Pacman, Ronda, Tyson, Chavez, list goes on all big draws keep getting big fights after loses. Canelo would be no different but now he has an excuse to delay or never fight GGG. No fighter becomes a superstar because a superstar lost to someone else. GGG ends up looking like an idiot for not agreeing to drop weight to fight Canelo last year and missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime.Comment
