....Very interesting info. Now somebody go and try the whole "leaving a bowl of margarine in the garage" thing. I would do it, but my wife would kick my ass for it.

In country where I was born, most of this stuff is common knowledge.Originally posted by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLYMy friend Ross from www.rossboxing.com who researches all this kind of stuff and writes books about it told me this same stuff a long time ago. He actually threw all the margarine in his fridge into the garbage as soon as he read deep into the subject. Now today I get this email from someone and it says exactly the same things Ross told me months ago.....
Butter
Pass the butter ~ ~ ~ ~ This is interesting.
Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.
DO YOU KNOW...the difference between margarine and butter?
Read on to the end...gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories.
Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.
Eating margarine ca n increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.
Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.
Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.
And now, for Margarine..
Very high in Trans fatty acids.
Triple risk of coronary heart disease.
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold.
Lowers quality of breast milk.
Decreases immune response.
Decreases insulin response.
And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC..
This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
You can try this yourself:
Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:
* No flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)
* It does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?
Share This With Your Friends.....(If you want to "butter them up")!
Even though some of the facts i did not know before.
Anyway its good to stay away from stuff like margorine, butter and mayo.Comment

Hey, Ice, not all margarine is the same. There is some bad stuff, but I grew up eatin' the stuff and I'm in great shape. Of course when I moved out one of the first things I did was start buying butter instead, but that was a taste decision.
Now I don't eat butter and only use margarine to grease the the pan for my cornbread.Comment

Well.. I never heard of NATURAL MARGARINE.. you might be in great shape who knows.. but the effects of these things dont just pop up instantly and arent visible to the eye, either. Think about itComment

** I do know a little about nutrition, and not all margarine has trans fats, ect. Mold will grow on margarine and flies will swarm it, I've seen it many times. That plastic comment is just internet BS. That steak you may have eaten this week is mainly carbon solids, but you don't think you're eating coal, do you?Originally posted by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLYWell.. In general butter is a little better for you, but they do have corn oil margarines, ect that aren't bad at all. You're in a lot more danger inside and outside your home with an accident potential!Comment

thats old stuff but i'm glad it's being put out there again, people need to know about this manufactured crap they're putting out.
one molecule from being plastic and flies won't touch it, that was enough for me, plus all the other ****, but i've always been a butter guy anyway.
solid info......good post....Comment
