Comments Thread For: Canelo's Trainer Expects The "Best Version" of Chavez Jr. on May 6

Eddie Reynoso, trainer of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs), is expecting the best version of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32 KOs) when the two Mexican superstar collide on May 6th. Both sides were negotiating for several weeks and finally reached a deal last Friday. The fight will be carried by HBO Pay-Per-View, and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas or AT&T Stadium in Texas will play host.

As a trainer you'd be crazy NOT to expect to see the best version of your opponent. Which in this case means a very predictable brawler who gets high every day and eats too many tacos.

If Chavez can make the weight well and then gains up to 185 on the day of the fight, it could be a long night for Canelo.

No you don't. The negotiations proved that. Jr looked like a corpse at 168 in his last weigh in yet you are getting him to go down to 164.5.

What a joke. Which is exactly what Canelo has become.

Chavez is going to literally end up paying and owing canelo just to fight him because he won't make weight lol.

Isn't it a million dollars for every pound he is overweight? His training camp really is going to be a weight loss program.

The PPV numbers will say everthying about the state of boxing. We know this match means NOTHING, but ppl will watch.

The best matches dont get any money for Ex
                Crawford vs Postol
                Kovalev vs Ward

I guess thats why their is no point of facing the best for little money. Ppl need to pay to see the best fights if they want them to happend and not pay for mismatches.

Mexican fans have a right to get excited about this fight. Just like British fans get excited about Anthony Crolla getting title shots or Germans about Juergen Braehmer title defenses.

what fighter did Floyd face coming off a KO loss?.. Berto came off a TKO, Pacquiao was on a 3 fight win streak, Maidana on a 4 fight win streak, Canelo just beat Trout (biggest career win up to that point), Guerrero off his best career win, Cotto on 3 fight win streak, Ortiz off his best career win, Mosley off a TKO win, Marquez off 2 TKO wins, Hatton undefeated, Oscar off a TKO win, Baldomir off a TKO win.

you gotta go back to 2006 to find Floyd fighting somebody off a loss (Zab Judah).
