going back decades is like looking at UFC now thinking these are elite athletes. it's simply not comparable to the boxing talent pool today.

Advances in cup technology have really hurt Puerto Rican boxing. Ball punches don't have the impact they used have.

Puerto Rico is struggling big time right now.
Verdejo needs to have a good year this year. And I hope he does. I really want to see them build up that Lomachenko-Verdejo fight for the near future.

I know some people are trying to hype up Manny Rodriguez and Christopher Diaz. I don't see much in Diaz and we still need to see more of Rodriguez.
I don't think either of them are as talented as Verdejo and some don't even think much of Verdejo. I even used to trash Verdejo a little, but I do hope he makes it.

I agree with the poster that said the talent pool is bigger right now than ever.

Verdejo is not that impressive to me. I just don't see anything overly special about him.

There are a lot of contenders there but very few that have shown talent to get a title let alone hold on to it.
