  • lol at anyone still entertaining this thread ..............

Dempsey wouldn't even be a difficult fight for a Douglas who was MUCH better than Dempeys opposition or a Byrd who would make him look more unpolished than he did in his own era ,sure Dempey would reighn today even though his accuracy was poor with guys who moved ,he NEEDED stationary guys ?

The problem is todays 240ers wouldn't have to move they would crush him and the slow 215 pounder Firpo fight shows that a average dad bod fighter can do with just outweighing him.....end of.

      • Jack Dempsey was 6'1" 185-190+ lbs on fight night (same day weigh ins, billed at 185-190+ if you look for it).

Dempsey's biography has him at 6'1" 187lbs for his first HW championship fight against Jess Williard, he was 24 years old and 47-4-9.

That is a Light Heavyweight today (around heavy 180s-190), at best that's a small Cruiser. Ward, Kovalev, Hopkins, Pascal come in at 184-189lbs.

        Some more interesting things:

Dempsey lost to Tunney, a former LHW, who is billed at 6' 170-190+ lbs throughout his career.

Boxrec: Tunney lost to 5'8" 162 1/4 lb Harry Greb by UD15. Tunney weighed 174 1/2lb, this was for the LHW championship.

So this trio of fighters were 5'8" - 6'1", 170-193lbs.

        The top 3 at HW today are 6'6" - 6'9", 230-260lbs.

That's two weight classes apart today.

Only a small man thinks size is everything.

A bob & weave master like Dempsey would have it easy getting inside on these tired dinosaurs.

Jack fought a tougher 6'6 guy than all the trash today combined....and destroyed him.

The big guys back then didn't get tired and could take more punishment.

Dempsey would have issues with early 40s Hopkins, today's Ward, The Nail, probably Kovalev, maybe Beterbiev.

                Dream on lol.

He'd have issues with them alright.

Sending condolences to their wives after killing them.

That's the only issue he'd have with that **** you just named.

                      Hahahahahahahaha

He should have mopped the floor with Tarver and Johnson

                      Sven Ottke kicked Johnson's ass

Think about that for a little while.
