Comments Thread For: Mayweather: 100% Chance I Want To Stay Away From Boxing

A few days ago, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. left a minor crack for a potential return. Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) said he was "95 percent" certain that he wasn't going to fight again.

Good. I would be itching for Mayweather to come back if I thought he would actually fight the top guys at their natural weights or fair weights, but he never did that when he was 30, so I really doubt he'll do that when he's 40. GGG-Mayweather for example is the #1 fight in all of boxing money wise and that I would like to see, bigger than GGG-Canelo, but I know Mayweather will never take that fight.

The Pacquiao rematch would be decent too, just to see how it goes with a healthy Pacquiao. Mcgregor would also pique my curiosity. Otherwise, Floyd would never take all the other fights I'd like to see, so I'm glad he's done with boxing. The only question now is whether he will continue to ruin boxing as a promoter as he did as a boxer. Luckily it seems like Floyd is smart enough to realize that ruining boxing only made money in boxing when he did it, because of special circumstances, and that if he keeps letting the fighters he promotes or associates with ruin boxing, it's just going to kill the sport entirely and his profits along with it.

So hopefully Floyd the promoter will make better fights than Floyd the boxer. Kind of like Oscar was a brave fighter, but a, to put it kindly, cautious, promoter, hopefully Floyd will be a brave promoter, despite being a, to put it kindly, cautious boxer.

you want him to fight guys at their "natural weights" then say he should fight Golovkin..at what weight would that be..160?

money wise Mayweather vs Canelo/Pacquiao sells more than Golovkin..they bring a bigger following.

Pacquiao was healthy the first fight. shoulder excuse was a coward way of not giving Floyd credit.

how exactly did Floyd ruin boxing? expand on that. because the guy is retired and is still the most talked about fighter in the sport.

You tried to sound neutral so you could insert the above and pass them off as facts. Nice try.

He is a liar. The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us.

i like Floyd he is one of the best to ever do it but he should stay retired and stop talking about mcgregor.

Its obvious Floyd does not want to face anyone that is remotely a threat so he wants to call out a guy that never been in the boxing ring. They might even charge over a 100 dollars for a ppv that should be a exhibition match.

Floyd should get a tune up against Chris Algerie and fight manny again or Garcia and Thurman winner.
