I think somewhere deep down Floyd is jealous that Andre Ward is the p4p king now. Floyd has been replaced. That has to bother him on some levels. He knows how remarkable Ward's win was. Taking out the LHW monster in such a grueling come from behind gut check win. Floyd knows he can no longer compete at that level. He had his time and he stayed on top of the game for 20 years. That will never be duplicated again. He has arguably the greatest boxing iq ever. But father time has caught up with him and he can no longer engage in the level of competition Ward is at. Ward is at the pinnacle of the sport. Fighting the best they got out there. Something Floyd hasn't been able to do for years and realized in the Maidana fight. That's why he cashed out with Pacman after the 2 Maidana stints. He realized he might lose to a guy on THAT level, nevermind the Keith Thurmans, Shawn Porters or Kell Brooks that were there. He realized this wave of fighters was going to be the new era and that he wouldn't be able to beat these guys. He cashed out with Pacman, fought tune up Berto and is now done fighting in competitive fights. He will only do a circus fight with novice boxing amateur conor mcgregor. Ward is fighting beasts and it eats floyd alive that he can't do it anymore.

but seriously the same way you can argue Kovalev won is the same way an argument can be made that Cuadras beat Chocolatito..so if Ward cannot be P4P #1 due to a close fight then Chocolatito can't have that spot either. compare Ward's face to Chocolatito after Cuadras fight.. he looked like he was slap boxing with Freddy Krueger.

so if a close fight disqualified you from #1 then it has to go to Lomachenko or Pacquiao.

Good point about Ward-Kovalev being close like Cuadras-Gonzalez. I had Ward and Cuadras winning the fights but nobody was in an uproar about Cuadras getting robbed because nobody gives a shit about those little guys anyways. Ward could eat chocolatito for desert if he wanted. Ward is p4p #1 with Loma coming on strong in the coming years.

Since when expressing your opinion about the fight is considered being a part of the problem or tearing other people down? I think there's no reason for Kovalev/Ward rematch (the outcome will be the same, that's 100%) but Floyd always gave rematches with fights that was more competitive than others (Castillo, Maidana) so you have to respect him for that
