People who thought Pacquiao would duck Crawford though are crazy. Pacquiao has never ducked anyone. Not to mention, Crawford is also a Top Rank fighter and there was never any way Arum would let Pacquiao leave without passing the torch to his next guy. I think Arum just wants it to count for more when it happens so he wants to delay it a year for max exposure. It's even possible they staged this "20 million" back and forth with conflicting stories in order to get Pacquiao-Crawford in the headlines at the beginning of the year to start the discussion and the hype train. If he can get everyone to complain Pacquiao is ducking Crawford now, then the demand for the fight all year will be bigger, I guess. That back and forth kickstarted social media into demanding Pacquiao fight Crawford, and filled up everyone's timelines. People who didn't know who Crawford even was before now know him as the guy Pacquiao is "ducking," so damn he must be good if Pacquiao of all would duck him!
At least, that's how the psychology works. Wouldn't surprise me if it was all staged. It's not as if Freddie has never played promotional roles before along with Arum and Pacquiao....
