Who do you think would pull it off? Thurman? Spence? Garcia? Crawford? There are good fights that could be made but there isn't enough money or interest for them. I'm no fanboy but I will acknowledge just how good he is defensively.

And lost somehow, how would the fighter that beat him be looked at? Would he be a superstar or would he be looked at as beating an old man who hasnt fought? How would Floyd be looked at? A bum or an old fighter who should have stayed retired?

Depends on how he looked in the fight, tbh. Floyd won his final fight 12-0, but it was still beyond clear that Floyd's skills were slipping (missing shots and clear countering opportunities, using every trick he could to find ways to catch his breath, etc).

Add a 15-month delay, and I doubt that Floyd is much sharper than he was in the Berto fight.

Did Larry Holmes really pick up all that much from beating on a shot-to-**** Muhammad Ali? not really.

This. He just fought a year ago, hes still in shape. He beat pac and to this day there isnt anyone that can beat pac, so what makes people think anyone out there beats mayweather.

Depends entirely on the circumstances surrounding the fight.

Who beat him and how well? Pulling off any kind of win would be impressive, but a complete shutout or a KO - particuarly in the first half of the fight - would leave a much bigger impression than a close decision victory, or a decision win that many thought was in serious dispute.

Was age a factor in him losing? Father Time waits around for no man. Floyd turns 40 next month and has still yet to announce a return of any kind, so he doesn't exactly have all the time in the world to sit around waiting before announcing a comeback fight. If he didn't show any regression in the ring and still looked quick and sharp with fast hands and great footwork - basically, if he looked at least as good as he did in his last handful of fights - then yeah, the loss would be a big deal. If not, then people would just categorize it as the product of hanging around the sport for too long, just like with so many other boxing legends.

Ultimately, any L he took would be a big deal because it'd still be the first and only of Mayweather's entire professional career, and if Floyd really believed he had regressed and wasn't the fighter he used to be when he left, he wouldn't come back to begin with. But circumstances obviously would make some losses a bigger deal than others.
