Which white fighters have been best in modern times? I'm talking like 1980-now. May seem like a funny question from me, as I'm often accused of being pro-black, but there were some truly formidable white fighters that everyone should respect.

Vitali Klitschko. Yeah, Lewis punched a hole in his face, but he looked good in losing and he was never afraid to fight the best available opponents. There is no shame in losing to Lewis. Vitali had the guts to fight and he is one big and hardhitting mother****er with an iron jaw.

Joe Calzaghe. While I consider Ward a better boxer, I think Calzaghe is the second best SMW in many years, and he would probably beat Ward due to stylistical advantage.

Froch. WTF is all this Golovkin hype? Froch fought great opposition, win or lose, and his hearth, chin, reach, stamina and punching power made up for his limited skills.

I don't judge fighters based on hype and other people's opinions. I just go by what I see. I see GGG as a better fighter than Froch or Calzaghe and I thought Kovalev beat Ward. Kovalev and GGG are two of the best white fighters along with Wlad and Vitali. I like Vitali better than Wlad because of his iron jaw. He was never close to being knocked down. There have been many good white boxers from 1980 to now and these 4 boxers are among the best of them in my opinion. I would rate Calzaghe near the top but Froch doesn't make the top in my opinion. His chin is good but not as good as some say. Taylor dropped him and hurt him badly and that was a washed up Taylor. Froch is too slow, sloppy and easy to hit to be rated among the very best white boxers. Being willing to fight anybody still doesn't make you the best.
