I agree the margin wasn't as wide as scorecards indicated, but it was still a clear Canelo win. Having said that, a rematch would be ok with many fans. Won't change the results though. Unless they fight in Puerto Rico, with all Puerto Rican judges, and Canelo comes in drunk from a wild bender the night before, there's no way Cotto wins. But he really doesn't have anything to be ashamed of. Made a bunch of moolah, won titles, big fan base. What every fighters goals are.

Harold Lederman's card was a joke to me just how I'm sure you disagree with Malignaggi's card as well.Comment

I'm a straight up Cotto Stan. I think his career has been great, and It support him. Having said that, he didn't win the Canelo fight. Canelo was just too big and strong for Cotto to make a dent. He had a few good rounds and it was competitive , but Cotto lost fair and square to a youger, bigger fighter.
I'd rather not see that again.Last edited by fightfanjoe; 01-07-2017, 01:17 AM.Comment

Lederman has always been the quintisential company man who favors the hbo favorite/agressive fighter. But that ward-kov card was demented.Comment

All I can say is if they make this fight instead of GGG-Canelo, the backlash will be so huge that 99% of boxing fans will boycott the PPV in protest. I actually don't think fans will forgive boxing and go back to supporting PPVs until Kovalev-Ward II and GGG-Canelo are made and justice prevails in those fights. But Canelo-Cotto II will especially, specifically be boycotted I believe because GGG-Canelo was already put aside once in order to accomodate Canelo-Cotto, and fans accepted that fight and supported it under the strict promise that GGG would be next. So fans will remember that and if they try to do it AGAIN after breaking the promise once already, fans won't be fooled. Fool me twice and all that. Everyone involved would be smart to make GGG-Canelo, then even if Canelo loses, the Cotto rematch will always be there. The Mexican-Puerto Rico rivalry does not depend on if guys are coming off a loss to someone as good as GGG. But it is past time for GGG-Canelo.Comment

The problem is that the boxing fans you speak of are not the casuals who make real ppv numbers. Not that I disagree with yo point.Comment
