Exactly. I've seen this fight many times and I never see more then 1 sympathy round at best from 1 - 8 for Tito. It was the definition of being outclassed in the ring. Tito was confused and had no answers and the punch stats are among the most one sided in the history of compubox for a fighter who didn't get the win.

Bustin someone's nose dosen't win you the fight & landing over 100 more punches, for as crazy as it sounds, you know that don't matter in scoring a pro fight. And yes if you're pity patting punches, that will go into account with the judges. Add into the equation the coasting & that's on you...It's. a gamble that backfire. So If you have oscar winning thru 9... i saw Trinidad win rounds 2 & 4 so far...i have to finish seeing the rest.

Name the fighters who won a fight despite being out punched by 100 punches and there being no knockdowns? You won't get very far ever since compubox started keeping track have only been enough to count on 1 hand.

And you the one saying Oscar landed pity pat shots when it was Trinidad who was bleeding from the face and oscar lead in power shots after 8. My point about him bleeding isnt that it means he lost (watching the fight with 2 eyes is enough to see he lost), my point is oscar clearly landed more then pity pat shots that's how he busted tito nose. Even if you gave him 2 rounds through 8 (which didn't happen) that still doesn't give him enough rounds to win the fight.

Dude me looking for a fighter that lost a fight throwing 100 more punches is not gonna change the equation of the fight. The effing rules are scored by rounds not by how many punches thrown or landed. Those r the rules.

Joe retired soon after possibly due to hand problems and simply wasnt motivated enough anymore. He had a ******* affection. besides, that was a boring fight primarily because of the way hopkins fought. I doubt demand for a repeat ppv would have been there

The problem is those 2 things are not mutually exclusive. You can say he ran the championship rounds still don't mean he deserved to lose the fight. Nobody is arguing that Oscar didn't give away rounds at the end of the fight. But when you land over 260 punches without really throwing any punches the last few rounds there is only 1 word for that... dominant and based on the way scoring works he clearly won enough rounds to win the fight. That's like saying because Chavez won the last round and dropped Sergio had him out on his feet in the 12th all messed up the post fight press conference we should just ignore the fact that chavez was schooled all the rounds earlier and lost the fight?

And is it Oscar, or Hopkins, or Winky fault that if you boxed Trinidad and didn't give him a chance to just stand toe to toe and play rock sockem robots he had no other way to win against those skilled fighters? This is boxing and skills/strategy are part of the game. It's Tito's fault he couldn't handle Oscars hand speed and boxing skills so he kept getting clocked and his nose busted up. Only winning rounds that Oscar conceded away late doesn't win you a fight.

I appreciate your analysis. But it doesn't apply to the Oscar fight. Of course I don't stand for the principle that Trinidad opponents must stand and trade. Winky and Hopkins are prime examples of beating Trinidad with skill (and size and weight were also factors). Oscar displayed minimal skill against Trinidad. All he did for the first eight rounds was stay in the perimeter, jump in the pocket, flurry and immediately jump back out to the perimeter then repeat three times around. All the while his flurrys weren't 100% connects. His missed roughly half but he certainly connected. Oscar won rounds no doubt but he certainly didn't sweep rounds 1-8.

Well checkout round 4 as well Trinidad landed, not only more punches than dela hoya but more meaningful punches. It's not how many punches but how it is done, I imagine the aggresion, power punches & more volume. Now mind you compu-box count pity-pat punches which are punches that just tap you...

the same rants one uses when their guys gets owned. you can try your hardest to conjure up ways and reasons why tito won.

more punches landed, guy should win.
