....he rarely headlines. A lot of his fights are on undercards, on top of that he is in a division where historically casuals don't really pay attention to and not to mention he doesn't really have a solid fan base of his own that warrants him to demand high purses. What's your thoughts on this issue? I know you might bring up p4p status but that doesn't mean you deserve a lot of money or securing HBO dates, ask rigo about that one.
Do you think chocolatito deserves the money he's asking for top level fighters when..

I dont give a ****...if he feels he is worth that much why not ask for it?? hell he is the one risking his life -
Read the question. I said do you think he deseves those purses, not if is it okay for him to ask for them. I have no issue with him asking for it but does he deserve it because at some point he's either gonna fight for that money or get less money for it.Comment

Asking for it, deserving it, and getting it are three different things, doe.
If he headlines an HBO World Championship Boxing card, or even an HBO Boxing After Dark card, I think he should get paid high six-figures to around a mill, mill three-isH - depending on who the opponent is.
I think a fight against Inoue would be headliner in Vegas, or Atlantic City - maybe the smaller venue at MSG.
That's a fight HBO should be willing to pay about 2 million to secure the rights to - and Chocolatito, having been much more of a staple on HBO, should get the lion's share.
chocolatito = 1.2; Inoue - 800k.
Cuadras rematch should be worth about the same.
Francisco Estrada rematch about the same.
Anything else at 115, though, I don't think he deserves more than 650-800k for.Comment

See - HBO knows it can low-ball him doe, cause he really doesn't have anywhere else to go to make even close to mid-six figures.
The countries where these little guys are popular, the money just ins't there to pay them anywhere close to seven figures.
Japan I'm sure they could demand low to mid six-figures.
Mexico low six=figures.Comment

If he can bring the $$, sure. Can he though? Fans aren't as receptive to the ultra-small weight classes so it surprises that he's even had the success he's had. It feels like HBO and journalists are trying to remind/educate us that Gonzales is amazing, rather than the fans themselves actually embracing him. If he's got the fan support to bring the money, he deserves it. I'd be pretty impressed (read; surprised) if he can actually pull in enough money to ask for big figures.Comment

What a fighter "deserves" is almost directly linked to what revenue he is able to generate.
If he can pull in the numbers, sure - he should get a fair cut. But he plies his trade in the depths of boxing that only the hardcores really pay attention to. Without casuals or even semi-casuals, he just simply can't generate the $ required.Comment

I think a fighter deserves whatever he can get, just like anyone else in life..you go high and they go low...Comment
