This. Manny can fight who he wants. He owes the fans and the sport nothing anymore. If he's going to go in with a young star at 38 he should get paid.

He is an international super star, he is NOT a ronda rousey. He is proven and has done soo much. ANYONE who cant agree with that is HATER to the core. He deserves the 20 mil, but it WONT sell. its pretty hard to understand how AMERICAN FIGHTERS cant sell PPVs in their own lands like Tbud and Ward. To prepare for such a elite fighter as they say Tbud is, he is going to need all the time and focus to prepare thoroughly to be firing on all cylinders. IF many does beat him, in an amazing fashion, it only solidifies his career and could move him back to the #1 p4p ranking because he just conquered an undefeated champion whos regarded pretty high on that scale. Give him the money or go home. Hes too big of a risk and little reward on the ppv side.
He's a fairly *****ty senator from what I hear. Pop culture politicians usually suck. He doesn't deserve 20 million in this economy. If he wants more money he needs to rehire those accountants to go through his books, and sue Arum for ripping him off.

Yes, he did get 20 million, but that was in fights that were in high dem and with big named fighters...paying him 20 million all but ensures that no one else will make anything. I think it's cashing out money. Manny knows that Crawford is the exact style for him to avoid (though Crawford is venerable at times) so it's likely going to be a loss for him. Manny is not fast enough, and has not shown enough power as of late to make him a favorite in this fight...i give him about a 30% chance at best.

They're simply going to have to accept that the PPV market just isn't the same as it once was.

Casual fans don't know or care about crawford and casuals don't even buy Manny fights like they used to. Only a fight with Floyd or canelo gets Manny 700-800 ppvs.

The days of 20mil guarantees are over. If he continues fighting it will be a discount, top rank won't pay him and risk losing millions out there pocket. And Crawford just bombed in his fight with postol so Manny just pricing himself out of the fight by asking an amount nobody can pay for a Crawford fight.

But he just did less then 300k and has fallen so far that even HBO told him no and refused to air his last fight. He doesn't have the clout with the networks and damn sure not with top rank anymore. He's old, not the draw he once was, still has the anti gay controversy hanging over him, and has unrealistic purse demands.

At 20m he would need 600k ppv buys just for a promoter to make a profit and he hasn't cracked that in damn near half a decade without floyd. And nobody thinks Crawford is a big enough name to help him do that. And Crawford is going to want 2 or 3x his career payday as well. The money Manny wants simply doesn't exist. He will take half this amount to fight someone else that's not as high a risk and keep begging for a floyd rematch to cash out.

          • Pacquiao's recent PPV numbers (outside of the Floyd fight) don't justify $20 million. HBO didn't even televise his last fight!

This seems like a ploy to avoid Terence Crawford by pricing himself out.

manny's team knows they won't get the decision against crawford. so it's time to cash out.

$20m to Pacquiao, let's say $5m to Crawford, would put Arum on the hook for $25m.

Before even going into the rest of the card, you're basically looking at needing to clear $5m in Las Vegas, plus 600k PPV buys @$65sd to simply break even.

Manny Pacquiao was more than happy to take $4m guaranteed to fight Jessie Vargas, with Vargas getting just under $3m and no upside on the PPV.

Why not have a similar structure for a possible Crawford fight? Crawford gets $4m, Pacquiao gets $4m, and then Pacquiao makes up the rest of his own money on the upside of the event.

                  hilarious
