And thats why he lost..He couldn't even beat on over weight, under prepared, over confident Hatton..who has a real problem with southpaws..
Your right...He is ****..
Won big time...if torres had time to prepare properly for that fight, meaning his conditioning was a tad bit better, he would have annhilated Cotto and people like you would be riding the Columbian bandwagon...it didn't happen...but I remember when Torres landed a huge right and cooto looked like he was going to fall, but he froze for a second and this look came over his face like he never had been hit that hard. LOL, it was priceless. Torres should get a rematch. This is the only oppenent that Cotto has fought with this type of power
Torres is labeled as the Hardest puncher in the 140 division by Ring magazine. I wouldn't be ashamed of being rocked by the hardest puncher in the division.
Cotto stood up to him and fought mano a mano, the type of fight he should have never fought, but guess what, he did and he prevailed in exquisite fashion.
Torres was in shape, and had a fight that was an early knockout about 5 weeks prior to his fight with Cotto, therefore he was in shape. One thing I will say is that Torres under the right management and Trainer, will beat many 135/140 fighters...he has what it takes.
I have question...who has Cotto beat?!?! WHO?!?!?!!? Everybody dogs these european fighters and Cotto almost lost to Torres. Torres rung his bell many times during that fight. Cotto does not deserve to be mentioned with Mayweather. If there ever was a band-wagon fighter, its Cotto. This bias against european fighters needs to go away, because they are here to stay and they are taking belts
Cotto has beaten solid opposition in his last few fights, including Corley Torres and Maussa (Maussa and Torres both being undefeated when Cotto beat them) and Hatton fought him later. I'm not gonna sit here and blow smoke up anyones ass and say Cotto has fought elite fighters but he has definitely fought top opponents that are just shy of being A fighters.
Cotto also got rocked by a hard hitter with an excellent KO record and has faced many dangerous hard hitters. Hatton was rocked by a recognized light puncher albeit at a relatively higher weight.
If you take out the Tzu (which is suspect due to his age, inactivity and injuries) fight I think Cotto has fought competition that is on par with Hattons competition, Hatton even won a belt from someone that Cotto had previously beaten.
I also believe that many people argue there is a european bias in this forum. Well that is bound to happen when we dont have a true scale to measure many european fighters. We dont see them as often (unless we download the fights the day after, which many of us do but some of us dont). This lack of exposer and against competition which we recognize and can measure them by often makes us skeptics, but its more of a skepticisim than a biasness for europeans IMHO.
Hatton fought Tzu and brought him to the lime light and many of us took notice and observed and waited due to doubts raised by Tzu's fighting ability at time of Hatton fight. However during this waiting period we are bombarded with thread after thread, post after post how Hatton is and will clean up PBF, Cotto, Castillo and the such. So when we see him get dominated during many parts of that fight that raises are skeptisim even more.
Its also hypocritcal for you guys to suddenly say not to judge Hatton on this fight because he was coming up in weight and took on a dangerous opponent.....When prior to this fight MANY were judging how Hatton would beat PBF based on Castillo's success against PBF in there first fight.
Now, in a complete 180 many people are saying oh..you can't judge Hatton on that one fight......this when they have been doing it for ages
If you care to look back correctly PBF was coming up in weight also and that was his first fight at 135lbs against Castillo. So many people said that "Castillo beat PBF in the first fight with pressure and Hatton is 10x better, hence Hatton is gonna kill PBF."
I was arguing back then that Castillo is better polished fighter than Hatton and was scoffed at. I said that PBF has experience with a guy that is just as good as Hatton in apply pressure and was technically more sound but that Hatton would enjoy a size, power advantage over PBF which Castillo didnt have as dramatically when he fought PBF.

WELL LET'S SEE....THERE'S SOSA, ABDULAEV, CORLEY, PINTO, MAUSSA, N'DOU, AND BAILEY. ALL WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS, AND HE BEAT THEM DECISIVELY!!!! PLEASE DON'T HATE MY BOY!!!! HE WOULD DEFINITELY KNOCK HATTON OUT!!!! AS MUCH AS I LIKE HATTON. BUT IF HE THAT MUCH TROUBLE WITH COLLAZO THERE'S NO WAY HE CAN HANDLE A MIGUEL COTTO!!!!!
I don't see where all this Collazo nuthugging is coming from. Nobody except a couple of rouge PR posters were supporting him before the fight....and now all of a sudden I see "told you so" and "Collazo is an A class fighter".
That's nonsense. Hatton struggled because it was his first time at welterweight.....going up against a southpaw who's style ultimately led to him having problems. Deal with it.
It doesn't mean Hatton is "overrated"....and it sure as hell doesn't mean Collazo is "underrated".
Hatton is the world class fighter here, and he won a close decision...in a close fought affair against a little known Brooklyn native that is still a little known brooklyn native.
Lets leave it at that.
I'm absolutely shocked to see this coming from you, Knives. Bravo, sir. I hope this isn't just a Puerto Rico vs. Mexico thing, though...
By The Way Cotto Would Knock Collazo's Ass Out Too!!!!!
I would like to see Hatton fight Cotto, because Cotto throws such short, sharp punches, I dont think Hatton would get a chance to do that hold-the-arm-and-punch-with-the-other trick. I'd love to see that matchup.
