  • Comments Thread For: WBA Aims To Continue Eliminating Titles, Start Drug Testing Policy

In 2016, the World Boxing Association began their plan of eliminating world titles. In several of the weight classes, there were as many as three WBA champions. Simple if boxing doesnt copy the UFC structure it aint going nowhere. I perfer boxing, but the politics involved ruin it. Best vs best is the formula for success and there is no other way.

The best thing the WBA could do for boxing is disband. And convince the WBO and IBF to join them.

The sport would do just fine with only the WBC to keep an eye on.

They should stop eliminating excess belts and start eliminating excess sanctioning bodies. Why do the WBA, IBF, and WBO even exist? Let alone IBO. There should be only one champion per division.

How hard is it? 1 belt per division, trade in the other "titles" for ranking. "Super Champion = Belt Holder. "Regular Champion" = #1. "Interim Champion# = #2 etc etc etc
