Ariake Colosseum, Japan - London Olympic middleweight gold medalist Ryota Murata is hoping to jump into a world title in 2017. He returned on Saturday, and looked fierce in dropping Mexican opponent Bruno Sandoval to the canvas with a right in the third round to post a KO victory.

Slow Murata would lose by UD. On another the referee gave Sandoaval a tough time.

Murata is too stiff, he isn't moving his upper body, or slipping punches. His offense is fast enough, he has good power, but he just goes into a shell on defense.

That puts Khurtsidze probably fourth in line behind Canelo (GBP), Langford (Queensbury) and Murata (Top Rank). He's gonna need to find a title shot or payday elsewhere I reckon

Really not happy with Murata's match-making the past two years, I don't understand how they can expect to go from fighting garbage fights to a title shot.

I'll be shocked if the WBO allows Murata to move ahead of Khurtsidze, that be ballsy even for them. I'd like to see an eliminator with Murata/Langford while Saunders fights Khurtsidze though.

He needs a couple more fights to build up to that top level. I'd like to see him in with Heiland

I dont think we have seen the best of Murata yet. The guy is an gold-medalist, has impressive power(his KO-ratio has been incredible high at the amateurs) and hopefully he fights some better opponents now. He had some fights where he didnt look impressive at all but i think he is bored with his opposition.
