      May I ask why not?

In its early days, wikipedia was quite poor in terms of quality, but that has changed dramatically over the past decade.

I am a senior researcher (biomedicine) at a large university, and my girlfriend a historian, and I can safely say that in these fields, wikipedia articles are nowadays considered to be of good-to-very-good quality, and up-to-date.

Wikipedia is now very restrictive with regard to contributions (many of which are authored by university personel), and normally the most relevant references are listed as well (which is why I like to quote them).

That may, or may not, also apply to non-scientific contents.

How recently did these upgrades to authenticity of content take place?

Not very recently. I would say since five years or so, wiki articles are fully reliable, unless there is a warning on the page that an article does not have sufficient references and may therefore not fulfill the usual standard of quality.

Which article are you referring to, btw? You seem to have one (or several) in mind.

Or just open the "Tacitus on Christ" article that I posted, and tell me which part(s) you think are incorrect, biased, or lacking in detail.

Just know that in school, we were never allowed to use it as a source and that was within that timeline.

School teachers are rarely up-to-date. Apart from that, it would make things too easy for the kids.

As I said, Wiki is usually excellent these days.

Not gonna work with it though. If the Wikipage has a list of sources better to use those.

Well, then just follow the links at the bottom of the wiki page.
