This was originally made by mi hermano Bobbito, who is puerto rican. but im making some changes in my point of view, not many.
Last ten fights
Miguel Cotto
1. Gianluca Branco- not the best opponent, but a guy w/ a good record who gave Gatti a hell of a fight, plus it was Cottos first fight back since his ear drum healed.
2. Ricardo Torres- Undefeated w/ a 28-0-26 KO's, no big names on his record, but to have a record like that u gotta be decent. Turned out Torres is a great fighter, and i think hed spank Hatton, Hatton refused to fight Torres for a replacement for Lazcano.
3. Mohamed Abdullaev- Olympic gold medalist, beat Cotto in olympics,to anyone who seen his "loss" against Clottey knows he was reall an undefeated fighter. So in my opinion Cotto knocked out an undefeated olympic gold medalist.
4. Demarcus Corley- Very good underrated fighter, only one to ever hurt Mayweather, and lost a very close SD to Judah. He rocked Cotto, but Cotto showed heart and came back, good win for Cotto against a great opponent.
5- Randall Bailey- Bailey was 28-4 27 KO's,former champion, was suppose to be a good test for Cotto, Cotto walked threw Baileys power, and destroyed Bailey.
6. Kelson Pinto- He was 21-0 19 KO's, he beat Cotto in the amateurs, was suppose to be a tough fight. Cotto completely destroyed Pinto for WBO title.
7 Lovemore N'dou- He was a rugged veteran, good test for a prospect. Looked like an off night for Cotto,he didnt really go in for the kill, i think he could have stopped N'dou if he went for it,he still won easily. Cotto gained a lot of experience in this fight.
8. Victoriano Sosa- Good fighter, came up from 135,he won his first 140 pound fight by KO by the way,he was very fast and was never hurt by Mayweather or Spadafora, Cotto destroyed Sosa. Sosa hasnt lost since the Cotto fight.
9. Carlos Maussa- he was 17-0 16 KO's and was suppose to be the next best thing out of Columbia, Cotto completely took him to school.
10. Demetrio Ceballos- He was once a highly touted prospect, but fell off. Tough fight for only Cotto's 17th fight, Cotto dismantled him.
Ricky Hatton
1. Luis Collazo- Very good fighter, southpaw, not known for power but has kind of quick hands. Gave Hatton a run for his money, many even believe he won. Hurt Hatton very badly, whether you think he won or lost i believe he showed Hatton does not belong at 147.
2. Carlos Maussa- Already lost to Cotto and Morua, won a title but everybody knew he ****** and wasnt a great champ and that he wouldnt hold on to the belt.
3- Kostya Tszyu- Good fighter, i think he was overrated, his best win was against glass jaw Judah, and he was past his prime. But i'll admit i thought hed beat Hatton, this was a good win for him.
4. Ray Oliveira- Decent fighter, but was deffinately past his prime.
5. Michael Stewart- whos Michael Stewart?lol, he was a bum w/ a decent record.
6. Carlos Vilches- Decent fighter, never beat anyone good,he still pushed Hatton to the limit,i think this would be a good fight for an up-n-comer,i think Hatton foought him to late in his career.
7. Dennis Pederson- Bum w/ a decent record.
8. Ben Tackie- was washed up, coming off back to back losses when Hatton beat him. Still a decent win.
9. Aldo Rios- blown up 135 pound bum.
10. Vince Phillips- was deffinately over the hill, was coming off a loss. Gave Hatton a run for his money in the first half, still a good win for Hatton.
Last performance:
Cotto methodically broke down Branco and forced him to quit with a hook to the arm. Throughout the fight Cotto applied smart pressure and threw vicious hooks to the body, Branco would block some with his arm and his arm was hurting him throughout the fight until he landed a vicious one and forced Branco to check out of the fight. Cotto won jus about every round.
Hatton moved up to 147 to challenge for the 147lb WBA title against Luis Collazo. It was a very close fight, some rounds could have gone either way. I scored the fight for Collazo along with many others, but many also believe Hatton won the fight. I think Hatton was exposed a bit in this fight, and showed that he can be hurt. Still, the official call was Hatton winner by UD.
Now if they are to fight i believe it will be at 147,here is why. Cotto is having trouble making 140 pounds and has announced this is his last year at 140. He is scheduled to fight Malignaggi in June and then possibly Castillo on October or maybe even move up to 147 sooner and fight Gatti in October. But either way, Hatton is not on his list for this year. So if they meet it will have to be at 147. I think this will most deffinately benefit Cotto. Hatton wasnt impressie at all at 147. I think moving up will beenfit Cotto a lot, he has been having trouble recently and when he moves up he will feel much stronger. He will have faster hands and feet like he use to before weight problems. I also think draining himself has effected his chin. Cotto will be better at 147 thhan 140 in my opinion. Not to mention if he fights Hatton at 147, Hatton is also a natural 140 pounder, so its not like hes in with a big welterweight.
My prediction- Cotto outboxes Hatton and breakes him down with hard counter shots and body shots. Maybe some shaky moments along the way, but Rocks Hatton and then TKO's him. I will bet all of my points on Cotto if the fight ever happens.
Miguel Cotto: 26-0 22kos
Ricky Hatton: 41-0 30kos
