Comments Thread For: Santa Cruz: I'm Coming To Hurt Frampton, I Want To Avoid Judges

Leo Santa Cruz (32-1-1, 18KOs) admits that he wasn't fully focused when he entered the ring with Carl Frampton (23-0, 14KOs) back in July at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Still a 60/40 fight in Frampton's favor, IMO. Leo has had it fairly easy in his career, so his limitations haven't shown up til last fight.

Am I alone in thinking it's a bit tasteless for LSC to be blaming his fathers Cancer for his loss? Why didn't he pull out of the fight if it was that much of a distraction? I really like Leo, he's a nice kid and an excellent fighter, I just find it a bit disappointing that he's blaming his Fathers illness.

Frampton beats him even more convincingly this next time. If Leo presses the attack he will be picked off and get caught. Frampton is the one who had him on spaghetti legs in the first fight. One of the judges was definitely smoking ganja to make it a "majority" decision.

hhhhhmmm... I don't see it as necessarily blaming it on his father's illness, but more of giving perspective as to why he was off his game (which may be the same thing to some people). Things like that do affect a fighter come fight night (for better or worse). Maybe he thought he would be able to overcome the distractions and pull out the win. I understand what you're saying, but he can validate (or invalidate) his comments with a win in January...

I think it's more disturbing when fighters give out their game plan, like what LSC did in this article. It makes no sense to me when I see fitghters do this....

Santa snooze is a weak stick frail and talks wimpy and sissified

weak Leo is a stick figure frail and afraid of being beaten again by that shrimp dwarf Frampton. Little Leo is now scared and will be tentative against the Framp. Leo Snooze will lose. Good.

He needs to use his height and reach better if he expects a more favorable outcome. I'd like to see what he does this time. He is an exciting fighter and I want to see him in other matchups too. Hope his dad is doing better.
