  • Comments Thread For: Sullivan Barrera's Coach on Big KO Win, The Split With Jackson

Sullivan Barrera is walking tall following his performance against Vyacheslav Shabranskyy last week in California. The Cuban, who was the underdog prior to the bout, managed to stop his Ukrainian opponent in the seventh round in what was overall an impressive display.

What Derik Santos did is the best way to grow into a trainer.

You serve your time as an assistant under a good trainer, keeping your mouth shut and your ears open. Doing things their way and helping with as many different fighters as you can.

Eventually your confidence will grow and you start coming up with ideas of your own. At that point you are ready to graduate.

Good for Santos, the student has now become a master. Jackson is definitely a top notch trainer.

That would be a good fight for both fighters, I would love to see it!

I'm digging Santos.. Jackson is not having a good run right now. LOL. Kov loss and BHop got KO'd for the first time. He lost a really good assistant. I hope Santos does well as a trainer. He went about it the right way and appears to really care about his fighters. Also, Sully B is actually learning under him, so that says something. JDJ always seemed like the kind of guy that was good for giving pointers to those who already had a good idea for what they were "supposed" to do. Ehhh. I think Kov's success skews how good he is, although I don't doubt he is a good trainer...
