According to sources in Nicaragua, former two-division world champion Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga (31-9-1, 25KOs) was attacked and bloodied. The alleged incident took place at a gas station in Mangua, when Mayorga and an unknown individual got into some type of argument over "waiting at the pump." The unknown assailant then attacked Mayorga with a club and struck him several times, leaving the boxer's face bloodied.

I mean he was attacked with a club. Even a skilled pro boxer can get his face bashed in with one of those. We still don't know all the details yet either, heck he probably beat that dude's ass afterwards. Mayorga could likely be more hurt or even dead if he wasn't more "skilled".
