Comments Thread for: Roman Gonzalez: I humbly apologize to Don Mauricio Sulaimán.

Roman Gonzalez has issued his sincerely apology to WBC President for his previous statements about him vacating the WBC belt if forced to fight Carlos Cuadras for a low purse, he believes his statements were taken out of context, but stands firm about getting a good purse.

Every time they go into the Ring they put their lives at stake, it’s dangerous sports and getting paid well for top talent fights is not asking too much, it’s a business.

Nothing to apologize for really. The Don is old enough to know the nature of the sport. It's nothing new. However, purse demands should never be negotiated thru the media in the first place. Like it or not, you'll be met with an avalanche of negative comments.

I think what he should do is ask that the fight be made a main card on a separate card and date. Do it in Mexico where fans want to see you lose. Make it a festival in Mexico and promote it. I'm sure he'll make more than being an undercard to someone's event.

Business is paying a fighter what he can draw.

Generic answer: How about Haymon fighters? They're way overpaid.

My reply: If a fighter wants Haymon-money, hire Al Haymon.

Forget about Al Haymon, I would Sign with Roc Nation and get all the money before they go bankrupt.

RG drew better numbers than lomachenko in their respective last fights and took home less than half the money.

You can see why he asks for more right?

Problem with these type of answers, whether it's "Well haymon fighters"..."Well GBP fighters"...."Well this Top Rank fighter" getting more money, is that RG is a Teiken Promotions (?) fighter if i'm not mistaken, and Lomachenko is a Top Rank fighter. Bob Arum just gets far more money for his fighters than any of these lesser known promoters.

If RG wants more money, he has to sign to a better promoter.
