Was there an explanation?

Well, one was given and we are going to have to go with that one I'm afraid. Here's why:

1) The IV was given by a paramedic, not anyone Floyd knew beforehand.

2) The IV was done in full view and with the prior permission of a USADA collections agent, who'd been with Floyd since before the weigh-in. That is the reason a retroactive TUE was granted. Floyd had permission, just not written. (WADA rules provide for exactly what happened with Floyd that day).

3) Urine samples were taken before and after the IVs. If Floyd was masking something, the pre-IV sample would have popped dirty.

4) Unlike most boxers, Floyd has an Athletes Biological Passport (ABP). The folks at USADA (and, by extension WADA) have this info, which has been collected since the Mosley fight. I cant state for sure, but I'm guessing that if there was some red flag to be seen over all that time, some lab rat behind on his mortgage would have sold the info to the highest bidder a loooooooong time ago.

Floyd is clean. Get over it.

IV's aren't illegal under NSAC rules either. Fighters not doing USADA/VADA testing are free to have IV's anytime they want.
