I definitely agree with your analysis, I guess what I meant to say was "even if" Chavez came in great shape, his fighting style suits Canelo who is the natural counter puncher. Canelo will have a field day with his uppercuts when jr comes in head first under canelos chin like jr tends to do.

In many way this fight is similar to Liam Smith obviously the weight and noticeable height difference is going to be there but Chavez Jr is better than Liam Smith.
If Canelo can't hurt him he is going to need to box and move a bit because whilst Canelo like you said will land on him I definitely believe Chavez Jr will have an easy enough time peppering shots onto Canelo.
