Comments Thread For: Berchelt: I'm Very Focused To Give Francisco Vargas First Loss

Anytime two Mexican fighters with big knockout ratios face each other, particularly when a world title is on the line, the attention of boxing fans worldwide is raised. On January 28 Francisco Vargas (23-0-2, 17 KOs) defends his WBC belt against Miguel Berchelt (30-1, 27 KOs) at the Fantasy Springs Casino in California. BoxingScene.com had the opportunity to speak to Berchelt this week who is based at his training camp in Sonora, Mexico.

Berchelt is dangerous but I don't think he can win a war of attrition against Vargas. Could be another FOTY contender

I know both fighters and Berchelt will K.O Vargas in 6 rounds.

Berchelt have a Great power and a destructive hook to the body.

Berchelt was next in line for a shot at the WBO title at one point. But Bob Arum used his connections with the WBO to completely pass him over and get Lomachenko a crack at the belt instead.

Now Berchelt is having to look completely outside that organization to the WBC for his title shot.

It's crazy the effect that insider moves and backdoor deals can have in boxing.

I've only seen highlights of Berchelt, could anyone that has seen him fight give a little info on him. His record and KO rate is impressive, but he's also got that 1st rd KO loss on his resume. Vargas is a warrior and one of the best in the division. Hopefully Berchelt is good enough to make it a competitive fight

So he's gonna knock out a guy who's never lost, let alone been knocked out???
I guess you don't know boxing very much

What a ****** post, remember Mares vs González. Is the same case.

I know more than you, Vargas has a solid jaw but Berchelt will K.O him with bodies shots.

The jaw of the Mexicans journeymen is solid, so. A record like the Berchelt is not normal in our boxing at least that you are a great power puncher. Berchelt is one of them.

And Berchelt was K.O'ed because he was excessively aggressive, but then he go to Sonora and start to work with the trainer of Estrada and actually he is other fighter, one that thinks better before attack.
