Comments Thread For: Abel Sanchez: Golovkin-Canelo Would Be a 'Morales-Barrera' War

Abel Sanchez, trainer for IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs), predicts a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34KOs) would be a very exciting war.

    Can't agree with that.

Canelo ain't busy enough to make it a Barrera morales Esque war. When GGG ears a few heavy counters that will certainly push him back a bit anyway.

Goes the distance, GGG by split decision

if it's a tight fight we all know Canelo is going to win on the scorecards

Could be some really good action but definitely not all-out non-stop action of Barrera-Morales trilogy. It's a big fight but Canelo already lost to Mayweather, so we know he can and has been beaten. Both tough guys though, but GGG might have a harder fight against Jacobs than Canelo perhaps.

I think Abel needs to worry about the task at hand

What relevance does the Mayweather fight have to Golovkin-Canelo? Golovkin isn't on the same level and has a completely different skillset/style.

It could turn out to be a slower paced fight of strategy and adjustments, but more than likely Golovkin will take chances and try to take Canelo out early. GGG has more power and better footwork. Canelo is a better counter puncher, has better hand speed and better defense. It might be competitive, if Canelo gains respect early in the fight, if not Golovkin knocks him out in 5.

This fight will be a boxing match with Golovkin disfiguring Canelo's face with the jab except for the moments Canelo wants a break and lays on the ropes and gets punished for it.
