Hatton was by far the most skilled fighter in the history of British Boxing.
And if you disagree with that, then you must be blind or crazy (or both).
Hatton the most skilled fighter in British boxing??? Hattons all heart!! Thats why he's got so many fans. Hattons got skills yeah, but Lewis, Eubank, Naz, Calzaghe, Nelson. Just a few that spring to mind all have better SKILLS than Hatton!!!
Now in reply to what Moschino said, a disgrace to British boxing? This is a provocative, opinionated, and ****** thing to say!!!! Did Hatton do something to you in a previous life??
I don't score the fight for the guy moving backwards.
Even if they are landing the cleaner shot? Toney, Hopkins, Cotto, and DLH are fighters that fight extremely well when going backwards. Did you had Abdulaev ahead on the cards when he got stopped by Cotto?

Dude, if you know boxing, or if you box, you would know that Collazo had better ring generalship.
I was never a Collazo fan, and I had never seen him fight before, so my opinion is unbiased. but as I watched the fight in it's entirety and thought at the end...who is the better fighter, who did the better job overall? The answer was not RIcky Hatton, it was Hatton's "stepping stone", Luis Collazo.
Ring generalship is a broad term. It basically applies to the fighter that keeps his cool...and executes his gameplan throughout the fight.
Hatton's gameplan was to stifle Collazo, and he knew he'd have to absorb a tremendous amount of punishment to get inside....and he did that.
Collazo was moving straight back, and Ricky was coming Foward.
That's the bottom line....you can't score fights for the guy running away, unless he's landing clean punches without getting hit. Because that's ridiculous.
Yeah... well that just happends to be something he can do effectively and get away with. He more than makes up for it with his entertainment value and intensity, and you could say Hatton forces them into it but.... his apponents nearlly always end up being just as guilty for clinching
You gotta be ****ing kidding me, Collazo was landing the clean effective blows all night long...Hatton would use (and miss everytime with) a lead cross to get inside and try to land to the body then hug while Collazo tried to let go..Every time Hatton neglected to clinch or lost command of the clinch he got his ass handed to him. To sit here and say Hatton deserves a victory because he threw more punches and took more punishment, punches that weren't effective hardly at all and punishment that was around double what he dealt to Collazo. This is straight from a fan and supporter of Ricky Hatton, I was pulling for him to win last night but oh well..Guess he isn't the phenom I thought he was.
This 'uhhh, hatton threw more punches in the fight so he deserves the win' bull**** is getting to me. I'm really sick of hearing people say it, you don't win fights on aggressiveness alone, if that were the case JLC would've beat Mayweather. You win fights on ****ing effective aggression, and if Collazo did double the damage to Hatton, that Hatton inflicted on Collazo, how the **** can you say Hatton was the more effective aggressor?

That's what I'd expect a guy who really has no single clue about boxing skill to say, and there are plenty of those about.
Ring generalship is controlling the fight whether it's using defense or offense & I thought Collazo demonstrated both. It was a close fight but Collazo should've gotten the win. Yes he backed pedaled for most of the fight but countered very well & hurt Hatton several times. Hatton didn't do enough in my book to take the championship. He was visably discouraged throughout most of the fight & was almost stopped in the 12th.

He probably did, this dude knows **** about boxing, so dont bother.
