Looking back now, in hindsight, man Mayweather kept it 100, and fought the best

I wasn't a big Floyd fan while he was fighting - I mean I always recognized he was a once in a generation, maybe once in a lifetime talent, but I always thought that he never fought the best.

But looking back, Floyd kept it real, and did fight pretty much the best in, or around his weight classes.

After he beat Pacquiao, and everybody started saying "GGG"! "what about GGG"! I realized what Floyd was saying about how some people would just never give him his due no matter who he fought... And it would just keep going on forever.

And he's right - the boxing world would always set up this next beast who would beat him "if only Floyd had the balls to fight him."

Just wanna give props to the best fighter of my generation, and maybe my lifetime...

I guess why I made this thread now, is because the Ward/Kovalev fight is still fresh on my mind.

And I really hope Ward rematches Kovalev, and doesn't retire.

We all saw what Floyd did, not ONCE, but TWICE in his career when he fought a guy who people said "beat him," and "won the fight," in BOTH Jose Luis Castillo I, and II, as well as Maidana I,and II.

Let's see if Ward is a G like Floyd, and realizes his rivalry with Kovalev will never be settled if he doesn't rematch him.

There is no money to remake the ward/Kov fight, it lost money.

HBO sure as heck isn't going to pay for it out of pocket. If I was hbo I'd tell Ward and Roc Nation to fck off.

Roc nation has nothing else to offer them, and neither do Cotto or Ward. Tell them to kick rocks....

It's definitely the most money Ward can make in a fight right now.

He was guaranteed 5 million, and yeah, Roc Nation lost money on that tip.

Duva, and Main Events prolly broke even with Kovalev's 2 million guarantee.

            Missing the point...

The first time in his career he loses a fight, and gets a gift decision, he refuses to rematch!

As much respect as I have for Floyd, and appreciation and love I got for him now that he's gone, we all know Jose Luis Castillo won that first fight...

But what did Floyd do? Sure, he could have scoffed at a rematch, and said "I'm the man," and "I won," he can get back in line.

Floyd rose to the moment, and rose back up with a full heart, and clearly won the rematch.

Why did it take this Kovalev-Ward fight for you to realize this about Mayweather?

If this were the first time, I'd clamor Ward to rematch Kovalev. Since it's not and Ward is in a lose-lose situation regardless, I can't blame him for wanting to walk away.

Keep in mind, people said he'd never take the Kovalev fight to begin with and that he'd fake an injury to pull out.

Ward won't go down in price, even if he does, it still won't be enough, and I still don't think anyone would rush to pay for it.

One thing that always reminds me of how great Floyd was is when posters talk about how guys like Charlo or Spence got a bright future ahead of them and are good young fighters. They're like 27 and you look at Floyd's resume at 27 it just night and day difference. Not hating on Charlo or Spence, but man Floyd was special.

No - I'd realized that Mayweather was a real ass dude a few months after he retired, and I really had a chance to view his entire career, and let cooler heads prevail from the Pacquiao fight (lulz I'm a HUGE Pac fan).

I just POSTED IT now, because I thought of the Ward/Kovalev incident, and how Mayweather stepped up to prove his mettle when he needed to!

This is a time where a rematch absolutely needs to happen, because there was no real winner..
