Why don't these two lovebirds get a room already, sheesh. Do it in BKB and be done with it.

Conor is an exciting fighter and an entertaining personality, that's why people love him. And he was already popular and gaining more and more attention even while Ronda was still undefeated.

As for his three losses, the first two were early in his career and the last one was when he jumped up to 170. MMA is a tough sport because of the several different disclipines and he's learned from every single loss. 21-3 is still an incredibly good record and he's still made 99% of his victories look easy. Funny you bring up Silva when he had not three but four losses in his prime before his long streak of victories began.
No one knew who Conor was before he joined the UFC. He had a big mouth even in Ireland but still no one knew who he was. He was living off of welfare up until a few years ago. Yeah, he's entertaining but he's big mostly because of the push he's getting. He got an immediate title shot without having to face any of the top contenders after coming off a loss and majority decision victory against a journeyman because the UFC let him do it.

I like Conor but he's quickly becoming overrated because he is very smart at marketing himself. Not because of his skill.

lol Enough with that bull****. Yeah, UFC gave him the platform to become a star but it was his antics that made him popular, not them holding up signs saying hey everyone, please like this guy. If it were that easy, they'd have an entire plethora of guys drawing millions of buys on PPV instead of only one. He was in little known, far less popular organizations and wasn't marketing himself in the same way, so of course he didn't catch on yet. Hardly anyone becomes a star overnight.

LOL I can tell you didnt know who Conor was two years ago. Conor has been marketing himself that way since 2008 and yet most people only discovered him a year ago. The UFC has had many stars. Lesnar, Liddell, Rousey, Jon Jones, etc.

The UFC is a large part of why he is big. After UFCs stars leave you barely hear anything about these guys.

              And your point is...?

I already said they gave him the platform to become a star. But them "pushing" you alone isn't gonna do the job, you have to have charisma, an aura, some excellent fighting skills, etc. to get over with the masses. Conor has all that. He has "It" and he can back up what he says in the octagon as well, there you have it. And as much as you want to repeat it, no, he hasn't been marketing himself like that from the beginning.

Just because someone puts you in a position to get over doesn't mean you will.

Ronda Rousey has a completely different personality from Conor's. Although very good at what she does she doesn't exactly have the most likeable personality yet she was bigger than Conor up until a year ago. How is that? Because of the push she was getting.

And yes Conor has been trash talking for years. He's been marketing himself the same way for a while but only recently are people discovering who he is. That has everything to do with the promotional outfit he is a part of.

Again with this 'push' stuff. Like I already said, the organization getting behind you and promoting you is beneficial and almost necessary, but that's only one part of the equation. You have to have talent and charisma to get over with the audience and that part is all down to the individuals, not the company. If all it took was strong promotion in order to become that kind of mainstream level star, there'd be a whole lot more of them than just McGregor and Rousey since I'm pretty sure the UFC would love to have as many huge moneymakers as possible. But of course your dumb-a*s will never understand or admit that.

Best not to do that outside of a boxing ring, Floyd would legitimately get the snot beat out of him.
