They need a peer reviewed study to back up their claims with the full scientific method. If not, then this is unfair and just something they're pulling out of their asses, that father's let their son go for longer? That's BS, what proof do they have of this? Did did they gather a large sample or just like 5 fights in the last 20 years? This sounds more like singling out, there aren't even enough father-son corners to make a large enough sample to come to this conclusionComment

Well that post was by a guy looking into it. The over half might be an exaggeration I don't even remember if he finished or not. It's been a while but he (or they?) had a list going but I couldn't tell you or remember the numbers or much else.
Either way it's not enforceable because that just keeps them from being the second. People will still default to judgement from the father especially the way boxing works where the family (fathers mostly) is very much involved since the beginning.Comment

So that's your only argument left? "everyone sees it like me, therefore I must be right"?
What a bullshit fallacy that.
It's obvious that the WBC won't make a decision that will affect boxing in such way. There are many father+son couples in the game.
Nothing in the information suggests that fathers won't be allowed to give instructions. Even if you read the boxingscene article, nothing suggests that either. http://www.boxingscene.com/wbcs-new-...second--111735
It just states that fathers won't be the responsible person in the corner.

This thread proves that people didn't learn to think by themselves.
Nothing says that the father can't be in the corner and give instructions. It just states that there will be someone else as a head coach who will decide to finish the fight or not if the circumstances come.Comment

Yeah that's exactly what happens. Pops almost always stop the fight too soon, not too late. I don't know where this ee-diott's brain is if he isn't familiar with that. But like others have said, WBC will GLADLY accept a fat check to override the rule any time. Just enough get rich scheme for those DAs.This is their reasoning:
Quote:
behind the move was over concerns that the father may not act in the best interest of their son if he’s in a difficult fight, and may let the bout go on longer than necessary.
But it seems like the opposite would be true with your father in the corner. He'd act in the best interest of his son and be he main one who doesn't want to see his son hurt.Comment

Dumb azz that's what we've all been saying. Not only does it strip the father from being the decision maker. It strips the father from being the head corner man. This thread proves that people didn't learn to think by themselves.
Nothing says that the father can't be in the corner and give instructions. It just states that there will be someone else as a head coach who will decide to finish the fight or not if the circumstances come.
Show me anybody here that said the father can't be in the corner. You've got 10 minutes.Comment

How do you police this exactly? Some corners got a few guys who talk to the fighter. Who's to say who's the main guy is? And if you gotta write down who the main guy is in the corner couldn't you just put some random person as the main guy yet have your father being the main guy once the fight starts? And if there is some workaround like that what is the WBC gonna do? Have the ref kick the dad out of the arena once they realize whats going on? DQ you? Or would the WBC fine you or if you won a title strip you post fight?
This all seems f#cking ****** to me.
I understand the dad/son in this sport dynamic, but to me both sides in a fight have a goal of winning regardless of their relation or non-relation & the refs job is to make sure the fight is fair & that fighters take as little damage as necessary so if a fight isn't being stopped in a timely manner the first person to blame in my eyes has always been the ref.Comment
