Demetrius Andrade was offended by Jermall Charlo's claim that there's no one left for him to fight at 154 pounds. Charlo could move up to middleweight for his next bout, but Andrade challenged Charlo to remain at junior middleweight to face him. Andrade, a former WBO 154-pound champion, thinks that Jermall Charlo, the IBF junior middleweight champ, and his twin brother, WBC super welterweight champ Jermell Charlo, are avoiding him.

True, but I don't mind seeing him again. He has behaved like a complete idiot and has blown major opportunities, but he is still a quality boxer and can give a challenge to anyone at 154. I want to see him fight, but he has to get his head out of his ass and start making fights... against anyone at this point..

Demetrius Andrade is looking for a fight, Erislandy Lara needs one, and Andrade's team figures that a matchup between the two top junior middleweights would make sense for both parties, as they hope to goad Lara into a fight the way Lara did Canelo Alvarez in 2014...

"This is a fight that Demetrius wants," said Pellulo. "Last year he wanted wanted a fight with Canelo. Canelo had and has other plans now so why not fight the man who some people believe beat him in Lara?"

"We feel Demetrius is the best junior middleweight in the world and the way to prove that is to fight the best," DeGuardia added. "Erislandy Lara has proven to be at the top of the division. This is the type of fight that will show the boxing world that Demetrius is a star."

“Don’t get me wrong. Lara is an interesting fight because he also is slick. But that last fight against Vanes Martirosyan, he tried to stay in the pocket a little bit, he felt comfortable with somebody he’s already fought before, which I don’t know if he’ll do that with somebody like me,” Andrade told BoxingScene.com late last month.

“I don’t know. If that’s the last resort, than yeah, I’m going to take the fight,” he said.

But it otherwise doesn’t interest him as much.

You actually have to fight someone to earn a shot and the right to call yourself the best. This isn't like being out for a while from a class you've dominated; this is claiming the top with no accolades to prove it.

With how Andrade's career has been moved I have little faith his people will get him these fights or that he won't f#ck up a fight with them somehow if it got on the table. That said I do love his chances vs anyone he's likely to find himself in the ring with. More importantly I believe at this point anyone claiming or wanting to be #1 at 154 will need to go through the Charlo's &/or Andrade so both sides need each other in order to claim dominance.

I'm so sick of Andrade talking and doing nothing. It's not entirely his fault, but when he says stuff like "Lara is my last resort," I can't feel any sympathy. Take the fights that are there, take the money that is there, and worry about becoming a star after you prove we should give a **** at all.
