LOL I'm not surprised by the results so far. No wonder boxing is in such a **** position (in the US). People who eat, sleep & **** boxing don't spend their money on it.
I was thinking about this the other day when I thought about all the money **** we talk about here & realized I'm a hardcore boxing fan, but I've literally spent $0, not a single penny on boxing in 2016. I didn't buy a PPV. I don't subscribe to HBO, Showtime or even own a f#cking TV to have basic cable to watch NBC, Spike, Bounce or FS1 or the spanish language channels. I didn't go to a fight locally. I didn't even buy a Anthony Joshua, TMT or Gabe Rosado shirt or hat.
Now previously back in the day when I was a non-streaming/non-downloading boxing fan it was another story. I used to have basic cable with HBO & Showtime specifically to watch boxing first & foremost (about $80/mo, $960/year). I ordered every PPV from the tiny ones to the can't miss ones (about $180-$240+/year typically). I used to attend a local fight at least once every other month ($250-$350+/year typically with a date or friends). And I would randomly buy a Chris Byrd shirt along with a couple other boxers shirts or various boxing related clothing or boxing stuff (maybe about $200+ a year). So my support of boxing has changed drastically in the last 10 years give or take & my assumption is most other boxing fans have as well in a way that negatively affects boxing on some debatable level when its all added together.Comment
