Then, Yunieski Gonzalez beat Pascal too. So no man, don't play dumb and act like it's the same now after Pascal has taken three beatings.
Now is it relevant as a stepping stone to Kovalev for Beterbiev? You could at least make that argument. See the nuance you're missing is Beterbiev is definitely relevant. But Pascal? Eh. Pascal should rematch Bute then retire.
Beterbiev should just fight Adonis already before Adonis gets totally past his prime. That's the real relevant fight at 175 for PBC. Beterbiev also already had a chance to fight Kovalev but turned down the offer, so why do we need to see this for him to become a mandatory when he actually had the chance but turned it down?
And I'm pretty sure the mandatory would be for Ward now since Ward is the "champion" now (LOL).
Stevenson-Beterbiev should happen in March, and Kovalev-ward II should happen in March too, and then the winners could fight in June or July. Then winners vs Shabbransky, Gvosdyk, whatever other guys are there on the PBC side (Alvarez doesn't seem like a top guy to me). Hopefully PBC starts making good LHW matchups for once. For once.
