Official Ricky Hatton Holds Too Much Thread

I'm a Hatton fan and I think he's a really exciting fighter but I think I've seen a clinch every 20 seconds in tonight's fight. Hatton is gonna have a very difficult time gaining American fans by being the "more aggressive John Ruiz" version of the welterweights.

Like I said, he's still a very exciting fighter in my eyes but The Ring Magazine made a huge mistake comparing Hatton's excitement with the likes of Cotto, Pacquiao, or Gatti. I mean I understand that Hatton's an excellent inside fighter, but I wish he'd be more like a Jose Luis Castillo kind of inside fighter, less clinching and more punching.

Castillo holds & hits alot, both style are kind of dirty.

Your wrong if you counted a clinch every 20 seconds because it was more like every 10 seconds. The moment the referee broke them up, Ricky jumped in with another clinch. I gotta say, it was more entertaining when they weren't clinching and ya know what, that's when Hatton wasn't winning. I think a Vegas ref like Cortez or Nady would definitely deduct points for the bear hugging. Hatton's style is not for the US.

Kostya, even though tired, was able to out-box Ricky in some of those mid to late rounds when Ricky decided to actually "box" instead of grappling...Ricky made a smart move to grapple for the first 5-6 rounds to tire Tszyu out, because if he didn't he wouldn't have lasted...those left hooks Kostya was landing in those rounds, in my opinion, hurt Hatton, that is why he clinched for 10 seconds each time {after being hit coming in}.

i cant see how people were so hard on raheem about clinchin when really him and frietas were both doin it, and now there stickin up for hatton or not mentionin it at all. Hattons fights usually look better cause the refs over there let him hug and slug all night, over here its a different ball game, no wwe allowed.

LMAO, I was rooting for Hatton but I gotta admit, I liked that 12th round when Hatton almost got KTFO, Collazo didn't clinch everytime he threw a punch

Hatton made boxing look bad but I think he gained UFC & Pride fans from all those clinching

Aside from boxing and clinching, I think Ricky should learn wrestling and jui-jitsu as well and he's off the the MMA

its a strategy that won't win him a lot of american fans. don't get me wrong i think he won the fight but it was close and he didn't impress me as much as the hype was around him before the fight.
