Comments Thread For: Tureano Johnson To Return on Vargas-Berchelt Card, Jan. 28

After defeating Eamonn O'Kane on October 17th 2015 on the Gennady Golovkin-David Lemieux pay-per-view undercard at the Madison Square Garden in New York, Tureano Johnson (19-1, 13KOs) looked to be in prime position to face 'GGG' in 2016 as he was the IBF's top ranked challenger.

So who's he fighting? Did the IBF say he keeps his mando spot even though they sanctioned another eliminator with Derevyanchenko/Soliman?

No way do I want to see Tureano fight a scrub then get a crack at Golovkin, he'll get destroyed. This guy struggled with weak journeyman like Gavronski and O'Kane, how does anyone get excited to see him face GGG?

I feel like he will be fed to Canelo at some point... Ehh, it doesn't matter. GGG beats him. Hopefully, he can get some wins against other notable guys in the division though...

I would be interested to see how quickly ggg can stop him considering that he took curtis stevens best shots coming forward and was beating him before the ref jumped in to quickly to stop it.

I think Tureano gets walked down pretty quick by GGG, 3-4 rounds.

If Curtis doesn't take you out in the first three rounds, he just shells up and lets you beat on his arms for the remainder of the fight. Curtis just made Dela Rosa look like a contender.

Glad to see the return of Tureano. This guy has the skills to do damage in the division.

People forget he got a very debate able loss to Steven's. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematches between the two.

Also with Golden Boy having guys like Lemieux, Canelo moving up in weight potentially, as well as prospects such as Jason Quigley hopefully some quality in house fights happen next year.

Here's Tureano's fight right after Stevens. He's ****. He's not doing damage to anything.
I'd pick Wade or Soliman to beat him.
I'd pick N'Dam or Monroe to smoke him.

the article doesn't say who he is fighting.this is what might happen he'll get a warm up fight in jan then fight sergey derevyanchhenko who knocked out old man soliman in a ibf eliminator.tureano was ranked number 1 by the ibf before he was injured.

Unless he takes a payday and gets fed to Canelo in May, I think they will enforce the Mandatory IBF defense on Golovkin. GGG wants to fight in Kazakhstan in June at the Energy Expo so I'd say that would be a great time for them to face off.
